I've been a reader at heart for a long time. And while reading isn't the best educational approach for everyone, it can be—and often is—for many. Here are the books I most often recommend when people express a desire to learn more about skin and skincare. Hopefully you'll find them as valuable as I have.
Skincare: The New Edit
Caroline Hirons has been called "the most powerful woman in beauty." Established as the go-to source of no-nonsense advice around the best brands and products on the market, this certified facialist and industry veteran has condensed her knowledge into this fun, approachable (and beautiful!) book where she outlines skincare basics and includes product examples and recommendations. If you're a fan of her, you'll be a fan of this book. If you've no clue who she is but also have no clue where to start with your routine, you'll be a fan of this book.
The Skin Care Answer Book
Skincare education often takes the form of question and answer: "Which cleanser should I be using?" "Is sunscreen important if I'm not on a beach or at the pool?" In this book, Mark Lees — an esthetics education titan — answers these questions and more. A great tool for future reference, and an asset to beginners and experts alike.
